With a Masters of Counseling from Universiti Malaya and a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and Management (honors) from the Upper Iowa University, Joyce has the passion in studying human behavior and helping them to realize their own unique capabilities. She is currently pursuing her PhD in University Malaya in the topic of Self-Compassion and Anxiety. She is a registered counselor with the Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia and is a HRDF certified trainer. Trained and certified as a hypnotherapist with the renowned National Guild of Hypnotists, USA (NGH), she is a clinical hypnotherapist who works with individual clients as well as groups and the corporate sector. Joyce also completed her Diploma with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. She is also trained in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) with the Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques (UK). She is a certified Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist, a very effective technique for trauma and PTSD. She is also an Accredited Goulding Sleep Talk™ for Children consultant, a process that helps build the self-esteem of children. She also conducts Hypno-Band (UK), a revolutionary weight loss program using the power of your subconscious mind. She believes that with these various tools, and together with her vast knowledge of the subconscious mind, she is able to help train and improve the lives of many.
Joyce founded ‘Joyce Hue- Mind Therapy’ in 2009 with the aim of improving lives and empowering people. Her current practice sees her meeting individual clients, family/ couple sessions, group therapy as well as presenting workshops and events. She is also attached with Eve Caring Center, a psychological rehabilitation center in PJ, The Mind Faculty S/B, a private specialist psychiatry.
Joyce feels that mental and emotional health is just as important as physical health. Her area of specialty include anxiety and smoking cessation. She was involved with University Malaya’s pain clinic (the use of hypnotherapy for orthopedic patients), The Westin KL’s relaxation via hypnosis program and LCCH Singapore’s Stop Smoking program. She also volunteers as a counselor and a social worker for a local NGO who runs a helpline. Joyce often conducts workshops related to mental health, to the corporate sector and members of the public in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Cambodia and even Zimbabwe.
In 2013, Joyce was invited as a speaker at AWAM, the All Women’s Action Society, where they help women who suffered from domestic violence. Joyce went to Zimbabwe to provide her professional care to empower them. She trained and taught the women the techniques to be assertive and how to increase confidence. It is always about self-belief and knowing their rights as women. This is another ongoing project where Joyce continues to provide her professional advice and therapies.
Joyce was invited to speak annually at Shell Malaysia where sixty over geologists attended to learn how to build a better relationship with their colleagues. For Genting Management staff in their KLHQ, they learned about stress management. From 2013 to 2018, she has even recorded her talk with radio and TV stations, such as BFM, Astro, NTV7 and 8TV on topics such as “Cessation of Smoking”, “Sleep Talk” and “Mind for the Body -Hypnotherapy”. He articles and interviews had appeared in The Star, News Staits Time, The Edge and other publications.
Joyce looks at each individual as someone who has the abilities to shine as a person. She sees past their psychological challenges and she leads her clients to believe in themselves, their own worth and teach them to develop a positive self-belief.
